Fa, A Long, Long Way To Run

Can you tell I watched The Sound Of Music last night? Edward and I cuddled on the couch together in front of the tv. He’s such a good sport (between us I think he likes it- i swear he was humming). I was drifting off afterwards when he picked me up. Very surprising! :0 I jerked awake and he dropped me. My butt still hurts. He apologized profusley as I stood up. “It’s okay. What were you doing picking me up anyway?”

“I didn’t want to wake you up,” he replied looking away and blushing.

*sigh* my boyfriend is the worst liar ever. “Mhmm, well I need to call Lina before I go to bed.”

He touched my arm. “Wait. I’ve been thinking about our conversation the other night.”

I felt my muscles tense up and pulled away. Man, am I one stupid woman. “I’m not ready to get married, Teddie.” Dont make fun of his nickname. It started out as Eddie, but one night after too many drinks it became Teddy Bear then just Teddie.

“Why? Was it so wrong with me that we can live and sleep together but we cant get engaged?”

I felt tears well up. For the record, I hate crying. “Your perfect Edward. Your smart, funny, sexy, talented, caring, and all things in-between, but I’m not ready.”

He walked to the door, grabbing his keys and his coat.

“Where are you going?”

“To get some air. I’ll be back later.”

Instantly, I called Lina and Bella. “I think I just messed everything up!” I sobbed to Lina.

“I’ll be over as soon as I can. Scott! No touchy!” I heard her whisper in the background.

“If you’re still on your date with him, this can wait.”

She sighed loudly. “It’s been 6 months since I’ve had sex. I think I can wait another night for my best friend.”

Bella and Lina arrived at the same time even though they lived different distances from me. Bella was wearing a dress and what looked like Jack’s leather coat. Lina had on a half-buttoned shirt, jeans, and a thick wool blazer. they both carried brown sacks of what looked like booze, ice cream, and cookie dough.

“Wow,” Bella muttered at Lina’s ruffled appearance. “A quickie?”

She blushed. “No way is anything gonna be a quickie with that man. We made out like teenagers on the couch for about an hour after dinner. We were almost moving on to other activities when Halls called.”

I told them what happened over chocolate martinis (I love that Lina used to be a bartender), and cookie dough. Lina smacked the side of my head lightly. “What is wrong with you?”

Bella threw her spoon at me. “Ditto. I mean, why did you agree to move in with him in the first place if you weren’t ready for the major leagues?”

Lina laughed. “Guess I’ll be stuck playing t-ball for the rest of my life.”

We laughed at her and finished off the cookie dough. As they left, I vowed to be more open to opportunities and sit down and have a talk with Edward as soon as he got home. Too bad I feel asleep before he got back and he was gone when I woke up. What am I going to do?
